How to Choose a Hearing Aid in Kenya

Step 1 — who will wear it tomorrow morning?
- Parent over 70, TV and kitchen: BTE or elderly-simple.
- Caregiver hates batteries: rechargeable.
- Still working in Nairobi CBD: ITE, RIC or CIC.
- Child: stop. See an ENT / paediatric audiology. SHA may apply. Read free hearing aids in Kenya.
Step 2 — pick a shape you can clean
If you cannot change a phone SIM, do not start with CIC. BTE forgives. Compare styles on BTE vs ITE vs RIC and scan costs on types and costs.
Step 3 — red flags that mean a hospital, not a parcel
- Hearing dropped in one ear over hours or days.
- Pain, pus, blood, spinning dizziness.
- A running ear in a child.
Those are ENT problems. We will still be here for a home aid after the ear is safe.
Frequently asked questions
I do not have a hearing test. Can I still order?
Yes for a home-use aid if the loss has been gradual. Sudden loss needs a clinic.
Should I buy the most expensive?
No. Buy the shape the user can handle every morning.

Hearing Aids Kenya supplies ready-to-wear hearing aids and personal sound amplifiers for home use. Devices on this site do not diagnose, treat or cure hearing loss. If hearing dropped suddenly, if there is ear pain, discharge, dizziness, or you need a programmed medical-grade aid, see an ENT or licensed audiologist first. We will still help you order a home-use device after that visit.
