Free Hearing Aids in Kenya: SHA, NGOs and What Families Still Pay

What SHA has actually said
Kenya News Agency reporting on the Social Health Authority assistive-device package described hearing aids as limited to people aged 18 and below, issued once per lifetime, with a defined paediatric benefit. That is not a shop on every county headquarters giving grandparents a pair. Rules move — ask SHA or your hospital social worker for the letter in force this month, not a forwarded PDF from 2024.
Health CS Aden Duale told the Senate in 2026 that imported clinic devices are a separate clinic market, which is why families feel locked out. Our catalogue is the private home-use answer, not a government tender.
Camps, churches and NGOs
Ear camps (including projects that visit county hospitals) sometimes issue devices after screening. Slots are finite. If you are already on a list, stay on it. If your parent cannot hear the kettle now, buy a BTE and keep the camp appointment anyway.
What to do this week

Frequently asked questions
Does SHA give free hearing aids to the elderly?
Published briefings have focused on children 18 and under, once per lifetime, not a general adult giveaway.
Can I get a free hearing aid at Kenyatta?
Public hospitals may have projects or waiting lists. Ask ENT. Do not assume walk-in stock.

Hearing Aids Kenya supplies ready-to-wear hearing aids and personal sound amplifiers for home use. Devices on this site do not diagnose, treat or cure hearing loss. If hearing dropped suddenly, if there is ear pain, discharge, dizziness, or you need a programmed medical-grade aid, see an ENT or licensed audiologist first. We will still help you order a home-use device after that visit.
